6 – Read, read, and read

As a society, we have developed a fleeting attention span. Every day we have hundreds, maybe even thousands of bits of information and advertising competing for our attention. It is pulled left, right and centre. We spend hours scrolling on our phones, becoming numbed out zombies.

As a result of all this, our concentration spans have plummeted. We find it hard to entirely focus on one thing for more than a few seconds. It's time to rectify this.

We must force ourselves to pay attention. To fully focus on the task at hand. How? Begin reading. Pick out a book and begin to read, and see how long it takes for you to lose focus and attention. My guess is that it won't take long. However, with everything, practice makes progress.

Read daily to expand how many pages you can read without losing focus and attention.

As well as expanding our concentration abilities, a side effect will be improved vocabulary and comprehension, improved memory, stronger analytical skills, and better writing skills. We literally become smarter!
