44 – Hug


We are social creatures and need physical contact. The act of hugging has a vast array of benefits to your physical, emotional and spiritual health, such as:


-         Lowering blood pressure and risk of heart disease

-         Boosting your immune system

-         Relaxing muscles

-         Balancing the nervous system

-         Reducing stress and depression

-         Creating a bond

-         Building a sense of safety

-         Boosting energy levels

-         Elevating mood and self-esteem

-         Showing appreciation

-         Making you happier



This is by no means a completed list. The benefits go on and on, so from today, hug a minimum of three people per day. The hug should ideally be between 12- 20 seconds, but if this is too much to begin with, then hug for a shorter duration. Do whatever you are comfortable with but make sure you hug.
