19 – Let go

We all carry traumatic events from the past that fester beneath the surface. Painful memories, grudges, and traumatic events all have a degenerative effect on our bodies. We constantly dwell on stuff that's happened to us and use it to justify our lousy behaviour. This causes more harm than good.

Carrying around all that stress compounds and can begin to develop into chronic mental and physical issues.

Spend some time today to think about all the grudges, disdain, and upset that you carry around. Think about the people who you feel have wronged you in the past. Do these thoughts still cause you pain and upset? If they do, then they are not doing you any favours.

From today, learn to start letting things go. Start with the small things that annoy and frustrate you. Let it go. Stop dwelling and hold resentment. It will age you fast! Life is way too short to hold on to things. It will hold you back and even affect your current and future relationships.

Forgive the people that hurt you. You don't have to do this in person. You can do it in your mind. Forgive all that have hurt you and wish them well. You are doing this for you, not them. As you develop this practice, you will find a great weight being lifted, as well as becoming more peaceful.

Do this as often as possible. Every day will present you with new challenges and annoyances, and with it, an opportunity to practice letting go.
