12 – Your perceptions shape your reality

The world appears to us not as it is but how we perceive it. Think of our brains as a computer that has stored all our beliefs, ideas, concepts, and perceptions (filters) within it. It shapes how we see the world.

Information and data are sorted through, and only the ones that match our filters get through and appear real to us.

We never see a true reflection of the world around us. It is always tinted in our ideas and perceptions.

Knowing this, if the world looks scary and a dreadful place, this is because our brain sifts out all the things that are contrary to our filters, so all we see is further support of our filters.

If we want to change how the world looks, we must start within by changing or expanding our perceptions. Again, this is done by questioning what we believe and expanding our worldview.

As you proceed through these cards and carry out the activities, you will automatically find this happening. However, this week begin to take note of your perceptions and how you see the world. Do your perceptions change when you're in a good mood instead of a bad mood? Begin to pay attention to your state of mind and how your perceptions shift according to it.
